TransLink plans to launch its long-awaited Compass card fare system later this year, and it’s hoped the card, along with fare gates, will help ratchet down fare evasion.
But, I wondered, what happens if you don’t pay your fare after the Compass cards are in place? What occurs then?
So I filed a Freedom of Information Act request with TransLink to find out, asking for “any and all policies regarding non-payment of fares once Compass cards are in place.”
The response: er, there are none.
